Some local sustainability news:

Cookeville, Tenn. is doing its part by being a part of a project of the Community Stewardship Project set to benefit the environment.  Cookeville was one of the sites selected because former Mayor Chuck Womack was the first mayor in Tennessee to sign the U.S. Mayors Climate Action Program.  Current Mayor Sam Sallee has continued the pledge.

Shelby County is also in the news, because it can now boast its first LEED certified building, with the Independent Bank Germantown achieving LEED Silver rating.

News from Bonnaroo:  Carbon Shredders, a nonprofit originating in Vermont, set up a booth at Bonnaroo that allowed festival attendands to figure out their own carbon footprint and learn ways to reduce it.
