Southern Environmental Law Center is proposing a “transportation agenda” for whenever Tennessee may get a portion of the proposed stimulus package to fix infrastructure of the state.  The plan includes repairs to roads and bridges as a priority and providing more choices for transportation systems as a secondary concern.  The Tennessee Department of Transportation has apparently prepared a $1.7 billion list of projects for its portion of the stimulus package, with $630 million reportedly set for transit and rail projects.   The Southern Environmental Law Center, however, is critical of some of the projects proposed by Tennessee Department of Transportation.

One thing you cannot deny, Tennessee could really use more public transportation, with lines of public transport reaching farther into the ever growing suburbia of the major cities.
