Stimulus Compromise Trims Green Efforts

Big news of the weekend?  A coalition of Democrats and some Republican U.S. senators reached a compromise on the stimulus package.  Several cuts were made to the $800 billion-plus economic recovery package.  One of the cuts was for the federal “green building” program, or a program for energy-efficient federal buildings, which was cut by $2 billion from $7 to $5 billion.  An additional cut was made to proposed federal fleet of hybrid vehicles, which was cut from $300 million to $600 million, and to the federal Superfund pollution clean-up program, cut from $200 million to $600 million.

UPDATED: I apologize for the typo: it was actually a $300 million cut from the original $600 million proposed for hybrids and a $200 million cut from the $600 million proposed for Superfund.

Thanks for pointing it out.
