Wow! Today marked the last of the 2010 Sustainability Breakfast Series. The event, organized by Brian Phelps (a landscape architect from Hawkins Partners), Erica Garrison (an attorney at Waller Lansden) and yours truly, was a six-part series on different sustainability topics.
This morning’s breakfast had a very broad topic: What regulators and the Nashville and Tennessee business communities are doing to ensure that Nashville is moving towards the Mayor’s goal of being the greenest city in the Southeast and that Tennessee is becoming a greener state that will attract both sustainable-minded and forward-thinking industry and individuals.
Basically, the discussion centered on what drives sustainability in the corporate environment and on the city and state level.
We had a fantastic panel comprised of:
Chris Bowles
Director, Mayor's Office of Environment and Sustainability
Jennifer R. Hagan-Dier
Assistant Commissioner, Tennessee Department of Revenue
Economic & Community Development Liaison
Patrick Brennan
Sustainability Manager, Ingram Marine Group
Greer Tidwell
Director of Environmental Management, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations
Joel Cherry
Senior Vice President & General Counsel, Tractor Supply Company
I had a great time moderating the discussion and would like to thank the panelists for their time and insight. Additionally, thanks go out to Waller Lansden for hosting all of the breakfast events and providing the delicious breakfast.
Thanks to all and if you have any questions about the series, please feel free to email Brian, Erica or me.
